The Katch Impro Festival (KIF) is a summer festival of theatrical improvisation whose first edition took place in August 2023. The latest edition took place over 6 dates. The event brings together the best improvisers in the Neuchâtel region. Each evening, illustrious referees from all over French-speaking Switzerland kept order on stage to decide between the two teams. Taking place at the legendary Collégiale, this open-air festival features a weekly “katch improv”, a dynamic and spectacular format.
This year’s KIF final drew over 1,200 people to the forecourt of the collegiate church.
Project Requirements
The Kif committee commissioned Alexis Manzon and Valerio to compose 4 entries and a jingle. Each team was linked to an element (waterfall, flame, rock and gust) and each entry had to inspire the element of the team in question. In addition, the composers were asked to compose a jingle containing a recognizable “gimmick” to become the festival’s “sound brand”. So they pooled their knowledge to produce these 4 entries and the Festival jingle.
Cette année les deux compositeurs ont décidé d’écrire un album de variation reprenant le thème du KIF écrit l’année précédente.
This year, the two composers decided to write an album of variations on the KIF theme written the previous year.
In addition to this, Valerio was invited to be the live composer for the last two dates.
